The oceans are vast in their diversity of living creatures, but at the same time, little by little, the amount of trash and waste polluting them has grown.

The Oysterland basket is made from panels of recycled HDPE, mainly sourced from plastic objects found in the ocean.


These panels are fabricated using a process that members of the oyster farming community can make in their workshops, from the acquiring of the waste material to the grinding and extrusion of the panels.

Every basket has a digitally optimized pattern that allows for the best flow of water into its interior. This helps as well with the cleaning of the basket, where the oyster stay during eight months.

For years, oyster farmers have employed multiple types and brands of baskets, each with its distinct properties. Nevertheless, independent of price, model or country of origin, the tool used most in the day to day of this industry for repairs is the zip tie.
This tool has been utilized to solve specific problems that affect the baskets in an environment that is exposed to the sun, salty and subject to strong tidal force.

The Oysterland basket considers the zip tie not as a fix but as a structural piece that from its conception works in its defined role as a construction element.
The use of the zip tie as a constructive piece not only allows oyster farmers the ability to fabricate their panels, but also allows them to assemble and repair the whole basket in a complete and simple way.

The baskets have a series of grooves that makes it possible to add a loT module to it for environmental surveillance, as well as the ability to attach floatation and handling devices to its guiding system.
Each basket has a 25 liter capacity and can support up to 10 kilos of oysters. A complete system is made up of 250 baskets.

The Oysterland basket is a technical, environmentally friendly and community-conscious option, at a base price lower than that of other available options.
